Install

First download the latest hello! cms release from the download page, and unzip it somewhere. Upload all the files you just unzipped to your ISP.

So far so good, now comes the tricky bit, for Hello! CMS to work correctly it needs to have write access to the directory it is in and to some of its files. Some ISPs run scripts with your loginname, if you have such an ISP you will not have to do anything -- so try logging in and editting a page before you change anything. If that doesn't work, you will have to fix the permissions.

File permissions

Hello! CMS needs write access to the directory it is in, and to various files (currently *.wiki and *.links) in the directory. As a (DANGEROUS) test use the chmod feature of your ftp program to mark all .wiki and .links files as Read and Write for Other, then go back a directory and mark the directory which contains the Hello! CMS files as Read, Write and Execute for Other.

WARNING!

Note that the above instructions are only for testing purposes, it will likely give other users at your ISP permission to change your website. Ask your ISP how to set this up securely in your situation.
